U.S. Senator honors Department of Veterans Affairs employee in Kent County
DOVER, Del – One woman was honored by the state after recently saving a veteran from committing suicide in Kent County.
U.S. Senator Tom Carper recognized a Department of Veterans Affairs employee on Friday after she apparently spotted a veteran in distress and was able to get some help.
The employee, Denise Rowley, said it is crucial that veterans are able to get access to more mental health services.
Rowley also said veterans need more resources especially because some experience significant trauma during combat.
“The person came here and just the distress on their face and the panic,” said Rowley.
“The one thing I didn’t want to do is one see them do it here and two see them leave and then here about it,” she said.
