MILLSBORO, Del. – In Sussex county residents in Gumboro got to celebrate their first ever Christmas Parade Monday. The inaugural event called a Sussex county Christmas drew hundreds of residents to The Gumboro Community Center to celebrate. Event organizers say the town has wanted their very own Christmas parade for a while now, and this year they decided to make it happen. Families and friends were able to enjoy live music, cookies and hot cocoa, and a visit with Santa. And organizers say the parade was a huge success.
“Gumboro’s a great community its got a lot of good people filled with good hearts and we just needed a spark to get going and as you can tell that fire’s growing now. Things like this knits your community together. Kid driven functions really hits home that’s what Christmas is all about,” said event organizer Josh Wharton.
Event organizers say they’re excited to keep this tradition alive and look forward to making next years parade bigger and better than this year.
