Sussex County family gets ‘sweet surprise’ from man 700 miles away
GEORGETOWN, Del. -Caroling on the Circle is a beloved tradition that Michelle Keenan and her son Logan go to every year with his Cub Scout pack. But what was supposed to be a fun sing along part, turned into a search party once Logan lost his treasured neckerchief slide that was given to him by his great grandmother.
“I was running, and then I ran around the circle and then I found my neckerchief just laying there but my slide wasn’t there,” said Logan.
They searched for a while, but never found the slide. So Michelle did what most of us do she looked for help online. And within hours of posting on social media, Michelle’s plea for help was shared close to 1,400.
“I was very sad but people were helping and I was getting happy because all these people were helping me find it,” said Logan.
Despite all the help, the slide is still missing. But in a twist of fate, Michelle’s post found something almost just as good. An Indiana man, who anonymously gave up his own scout slider.
“He’s way far away and he’s a stranger and he’s like miles and miles away and he’s sending one of his things from his Cub Scout days,” said Logan.
“This is just a show of that, that you can gain something valuable even out of a negative experience,” said Michelle.
Michelle says she already has the slider, but also tells us that Logan doesn’t have it just yet. She says it came inside a *puzzle box* that he has to solve in order to open it.
