South snaps a seven game lose streak in 2018 Eastern Shore Bowl

CAMBRIDGE, MD- In the 11th annual Eastern Shore Bowl, the North side came in riding a 7 game win streak over the South. The South ended that streak with a huge win, 35-13. For the first time in history, the game featured players from all over Delmarva. Players came from high schools in  Virgina, Delaware and Maryland including Nandua, Annapolis, Milford, Sussex Tech and Old Mill.

Defense was the story for the South, coached by Parkside head coach Brendan Riley, they held the North to 215 total yards of offense, 13 points and forced 6 turnovers while also returning a fumble for a touchdown. Milford senior LB Caleb Watson took home South team defensive MVP with 4 total takcles and a 7 yard fumble recovery returned for a touchdown. The defense also got interceptions from Parkside corner Shymir Coakley, Tech’s Noah Wharton and Stephen Decatur’s Cameron Bradshaw

On offense, the South put up 334 total yards of offense and 5 touchdowns. The ground game was dangerous agains the North. Led by Sussex Tech’s Michael Norsworthy, who took home the Souths offensive MVP award. He put up 83 yards on 14 carries and a TD run. Paired with 61 yards from QB Brandon Scholl and 47 by Shykem Jacobs topped off by 39 from Rashawn Price the South had a combined 220 yards on the ground.

For the North, Old Mill QB Markus Thompson won the offensive MVP award after scoring both team touchdowns, one thought the air and one on the ground while racking up 121 passing yards and 17 on the ground. That passing touchdown was caught by Zion Green out of Annapolis high school. On defense, Grayson Bekert brought home the MVP award with 11 total tackles, 1 tackle for loss.
