Serious crash in Bridgeville under investigation
BRIDGEVILLE, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a serious crash involving a bicyclist that happened Monday evening.
Police say the incident occurred at approximately 5:15 PM, when a Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling southbound on Conrail Road south of Cannon Road failed to see a bicyclist who was walking a dog secured to the handlebars. As a result, the driver of the Cherokee hit the bike in the southbound travel lane.
The driver of the Cherokee, a 29-year-old male from Seaford, was properly restrained and was not injured in the crash.
The bicyclist was a 16-year-old male from Seaford, who police say was not wearing a helmet and was wearing all dark clothing without reflective material. He was initially take to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious injuries and was later transferred to Christiana Hospital.
The dog did not suffer any injuries.
