Police seeking public help in identifying hit and run vehicle

HARRINGTON, Del. – Delaware State Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the vehicle pictured above, which was reportedly involved in a fatal pedestrian hit and run crash late last week.

The incident happened just after 9:30 PM on December 14th, when a 53-year-old Harrington man was hit by an unknown vehicle while crossing U.S. Route 13 from west to east. Police say the pedestrian successfully crossed the southbound lanes of Route 13, but was hit while crossing the northbound right lane.

The vehicle did not stop after hitting the pedestrian and fled the scene.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a Jeep, possibly an older Cherokee, Commander, or 4-door Wrangler with a hard top. It appears the vehicle is light in color with black trim near the bottom. The vehicle should have damage to the right front fender, missing an amber/orange right side marker lens, and possibly have scratches and/or damage to the right side.

The vehicle was last seen traveling eastbound on SR 14 in Milford.

Anyone with information regarding the incident or the suspect vehicle should contact Sgt. J. Wheatley at 302-698-8515 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
