UPDATE: Overnight armed robbery in Salisbury under investigation
SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred during the overnight hours into Monday morning.
Police say the incident occurred at around 1:30 AM, in the 200 block of East Main Street in Salisbury.
A 42-year-old male victim reported that he was walking east in the area when he was approached by two masked suspects on bicycles. Both suspects then allegedly got off of their bicycles and ordered the victim to the ground and demanded money and personal property, while one suspect pointed a handgun at the victim.
The suspects took an unknown amount of cash and personal property from the victim before fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
The Salisbury Police Department is asking business owners in the area to check their surveillance cameras for possible recorded footage of the incident and the suspects involved.
Salisbury Police Department Captain Richard Kaiser said, “Our detectives are trying to locate video surveillance of this incident in hopes that we can identify the suspects that are involved in this, and once we do receive that and review that, we’re going to put that out as soon as possible for identification purposes.”
Suspect #1 is described as a male, approximately 17 years of age, wearing a dark colored puffy winter jacket and a mask. Police say this suspect was carrying a semi-automatic style handgun during the robbery and was riding a red or burgundy mountain bike with a silver or gold stripe.
Suspect #2 is described as a male, approximately 17 years of age, wearing a baggy dark hooded style sweatshirt and was wearing a mask. This suspect was riding a dark colored bicycle.
Police do not believe there is a threat to the public at this time.
