Ocean City offering free Christmas tree drop off site

OCEAN CITY, Md. – As much as we hate to say it– Christmas is officially over. And whether you want to hang on to your Christmas tree for a little while longer or you’re ready to get rid of it now, either way the town of Ocean City is here for you when you decide to part ways. Starting on Wednesday, Ocean City will once again be providing a free Christmas tree drop-off site at the 100th Street Municipal Parking Lot. Officials ask that you remove all tinsel, ornaments and other non-wooden items from the tree before it’s collected and taken to the county landfill where they are recycled. Residents in the area say it’s a relief to know they’ll be able to get rid of their Christmas tree hassle free.

“It’s kind of hard to get rid of because you’re not really sure when they’re going to come you’ve got to look when they’re going to pick it up. It’s absolutely excellent I can take the whole tree and come right up here where I know where I’m going and just deposit it where it goes and we’re all done,” said resident Daniel Sparkman.

Officials add that trees can be placed in the northeast corner of the 100th Street lot, and they’ll be collected from now until January 15th.
