New businesses setting up shop in Princess Anne

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – After years of trying to fill empty storefronts a surge of new businesses is finally making it’s way to downtown Princess Anne.

In the last month, Princess Anne has welcomed five new businesses to town including a new women’s boutique and computer repair store.

It’s something local residents and officials have been waiting for since stores had to close up shop during the recession. Carrie Samis, the manager for the downtown district, hopes this new wave of business will bring more visitors to town.

And the new shop owners say they are just happy to contribute.

“The diversity of shops and businesses downtown I think is also key to attracting a broad audience and bringing people, all kinds of people, down for all sorts of reasons,” explains Samis.

New shop owner Orlena Williams of Oh Grace & Glory Boutique exclaims, “It’s been great we’ve been getting a lot of business from the local people here.”

A local coffee shop is also expected to open up in downtown Princess Anne in the coming months.
