MSP investigating Princess Anne shooting
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Maryland State Police are asking for the public’s help with their investigation into a shooting that happened Thursday morning in Princess Anne.
Officials say they were called to an apartment complex in the 11000 block of Bratten Avenue at around 10:30 AM for a reported gunshot victim. On arrival, police located the victim, identified as 19-year-old Antonio Johnson, with a gunshot would to the neck.
Johnson was immediately taken to PRMC in Salisbury for treatment of his injuries.
Police reviewed video surveillance footage from the apartment complex, and noticed five men sitting in the apartment complex laundry room, passing around what appeared to be a handgun. The handgun reportedly fired at least one round during this time, hitting the victim in the neck.
It is believed that the men then ran out of the laundry room and into the victim’s apartment to call 911. A search warrant was obtained for the apartment, where officials recovered a .32 caliber handgun and five rounds of ammunition.
Police believe the shooting may have been accidental, however, charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
