Lincoln man arrested on assault and kidnapping charges

LINCOLN, Del. – A Lincoln man is facing assault and kidnapping charges after police say he held his girlfriend and their 1-year-old child against their will.

Delaware State Police were called to respond to the 8700 block of West Clogg Drive for a domestic on Sunday. When police arrived, a female was able to escape through the entry door to the home and told police that her boyfriend, 32-year-old Emmanuel Vazquez-Gomez was armed with a knife and inside the home with their 1-year-old child.

Police learned that Vazquez-Gomez allegedly threatened to kill the victim and held her and their son against their will for the majority of the day. The victim sustained multiple injuries including several cuts from knives as a result of the incident.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injures. The child was not injured.

Vazquez-Gomez was arrested and charged with two counts of first degree kidnapping, two counts of first degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, endangering the welfare of a child, and resisting arrest. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $157,000 secured bond.
