Lewes officials address feral cat issue

LEWES, Del. – City officials are addressing issues regarding feral cats. The City of Lewes is working alongside Brandywine SPCA to address to colonies that residents and homeowners had concerns with.

Feral cats that are now either spayed, neutered, or put up for adoption. It’s a move the city is hoping to continue to make moving forward as they work towards a long term solution.

“We will be working again with the SPCA, we set up a committee with city council member Rob Morgan, the city manager and myself to work on revisions that the new council will consider and hopefully adopt as to how we might revise our current ordinance,” explains Mayor Ted Becker.

The city’s intent going forward is to find these cats homes and if possible place them into a trap, spay, neuter and release program.
