Last-minute shoppers fill stores on Delmarva

SALISBURY, Md. – Thousands of people on Delmarva are making their way to stores like Target in Salisbury to finish up their Christmas shopping.

“Oh my god, I’m so stressed out today because these last couple of gifts I have to get and our gift exchange is actually on Christmas Eve, which is tomorrow, so…agh!” said Kelli Burkett, a Cambridge resident.

With every swipe of a store item, the shelves are getting emptier and emptier at certain retail stores across the shore forcing people to make multiple stops on their holiday shopping trips.

“Well, I went to Walmart yesterday and everything is wiped out and they don’t really have as good of stuff as Target does and this is the closest one,” said Amanda Queen, a Berlin resident.

“I still have my dad to get because he’s kind of particular I still have my sister I picked her name for Secret Santa,” said Burkett.

There are several reasons why so many are shopping last minute this holiday season. Some come from a big family, so wrapping up their Christmas list takes time. While others, simply decided to get some extra gifts for their loved ones at the last second.

‘I also told my two children this year, you’re only getting three gifts and then of course I’m a sucker, so I’ve filled up my cart for stuff for them feeling like they need to have more to open,” said Burkett.

According to a Target employee, shoppers still have time to get some last minute gifts before Christmas Day.

Certain stores like Target will be open tomorrow from 7 AM to 10 PM.
