Kurtz earns his first win as Decatur head coach

POCOMOKE CITY, Md.- In a battle of first year head coaches looking for their first career conference wins, the Stephen Decatur Lady Seahawks and head coach Scott Kurtz dropped Pocomoke 56-32.

It was all Decatur (1-1) from the beginning, with Jess Janney leading the way, scoring 13 in first half points to go into the locker room up 30-15.

The second half was much of the same, as Decatur outscored Pocomoke 22-17 in the half, led by Seahawks’ Summer Engle, who added 11 on the night.

The Warriors (1-2) got a game-high 18 points from senior Mykal Schoolfield and 11 from fellow senior Aajah Kellam.

The Seahawks will look to continue their hot streak Thursday when they host Crisfield in their home opener.

Pocomoke, and their new head coach Monique Douglas, will look to get back to .500 Thursday when they host Cambridge.
