Historical Trust sets up end-of-year fundraiser

SOMERSET CO., Md. –  We are nearing New Year’s, a time for folks to make end of the year donations that are tax deductible. That’s why the Somerset Historical Trust is launching its first-ever online fundraiser.

The trust takes historic homes, like the Littleton Long House, buys and restores them, then sells them.

The process of funding projects can be a matter of timing, having the funds available at the time when a property becomes available to restore, and the funds from this campaign can help the trust with those future projects.

“They’re protecting some of the historical and cultural assets that are important for telling the story of somerset county,” said Carrie Samis, Somerset County Historical Trust volunteer.

The Trust also serves as a resource in the County, assisting with documenting sites of interest, filing properties for the National Register of Historic Places and publishing historical resource books and documents, and more.
