HALO creates donation challenge to expand efforts for homeless community

SALISBURY, Md. – A local homeless shelter needs your help to raise funds to expand their efforts in Wicomico County.

HALO in Salisbury is doing a teddy bear challenge, where they are asking you to help teddy fill his box. The challenge is to donate $50 but you can give more or less.

HALO says all of that money will expand the men’s shelter and help them add showers and a laundry facility. Plus it will help grow other programs.

Their Executive Director, Celeste Savage, says when creating the challenge, the idea was to place a used teddy bear at the donation location. “I don’t want a new teddy bear, I want a worn teddy bear because it’s like our people. They are worn, they’re tattered, they’re torn but the neat part of the teddy bear that’s worn like that, is that they’re loved on and we love on our people here, so it all just came together,” Savage tells us.

HALO says this is the very first year of their teddy bear challenge and it starts December 6. You have until December 31st to donate.
