SALISBURY, Md. – Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County recently received a $12,000 donation from First Shore Federal Savings.

We’re told this donation will be restricted to the four projects included in Wicomico Habitat’s affordable home program, with the next build set to begin this spring.

First Shore Federal utilized Maryland’s Department of Housing and Community Development’s Community Investment Tax Credit (CITC) Program in their donation, meaning the bank receives 50% of their donation back from the state in the form of a tax credit.

Since 2003, First Shore Federal has helped the Wicomico and Worcester County Habitat affiliates with this same program, with donations totaling $118,490.

“We are so grateful to First Shore Federal for this most generous donation. Our non-profit has also been blessed with Board Leadership with Gene Malone currently serving as our Board President, Oliver Waters as Past President, and Sharon Morris as our Board Secretary. The funding from this grant directly contributes to our efforts to build decent, safe, affordable housing for Wicomico County families in need,” said Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County Molly Hilligoss.
