Firehouse Subs grants local fire company life saving equipment
SALISBURY, Md. – The firehouse subs restaurant in Salisbury isn’t only dishing out good food, but life saving equipment that will help protect residents here on the eastern shore. On Monday, the popular food chain gave the Willards Volunteer Fire Company an automated chest compression system that worth more than $14,000. Officials say the device will help paramedics deliver uninterrupted CPR on the ambulance helping improve a patient’s chance of survival.
“This piece of equipment is a lot of times very expensive and it’s very hard for some of these local volunteers or local fire departments to be able to purchase on their own so our public safety foundation takes the grant request in and we try to help where we can in the community,” said area representative Bob Lowe.
Officials add that local fire departments in the area can still apply for different grants to either receive money or equipment for their department by heading to their website here.
