DSP investigate attempted murder on Christmas

LINCOLN, Del.– A man is now behind bars for attempting to kill his girlfriend in front of two kids on Christmas.

State police say around 7:30 a.m. they responded to 19000 block of Pine Street for a reported shooting.

Reportedly Javaghn Waples, 40, and his girlfriend got into a verbal fight that led to him grabbing a gun and shooting the 37 year old woman. As a result of the shooting, he was also hit with a bullet.

The female victim was found with one gunshot wound to her upper body. Both the victim and Waples were taken to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Waples is being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $1,006,600.000 cash only bond.

He is also facing attempted murder charges as well as terroristic threatening, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child among other charges.
