UPDATE: Multiple counties activate Snow Emergency Plan

DELMARVA –  Snow emergency plans took effect in Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester Counties Sunday afternoon.

A snow emergency plan helps the State Highway Administration with snow clearing operations.

Once a snow emergency plan goes into effect, all cars on the road must be equipped with snow chains or snow tires.

In addition, disabled vehicles will be removed immediately instead of the normal 48 hour grace period.

A parking ban is now being imposed on all snow emergency routes in the County, which means all cars left on the shoulders of these routes will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Police urge you to not drive during this time unless absolutely necessary, because this will allow the County and State Highway crews to remove the snow more efficiently.

You are encouraged to allow a little extra time in your Monday morning travels.
