Delmar Elementary renovations underway, more changes to come
DELMAR, Md. – Faculty members and teachers at Delmar Elementary were hard at work moving into the newest part of their facility.
This is all apart of a $10 million renovation project, which has six phases. Phase one started in August and it’s now complete, as it upgrades their B wing. It includes six brand new classrooms and offices for support staff.
Prior to the renovations, all the classrooms were open. But now, they have included security measures by adding in doors.
But they aren’t done yet. Phase 2 will move out C Wing. Kindergarten and special education students move out to a large portable for remainder of this year. The start of next year, they will move back to C Wing with brand new classrooms.
They plan to work on the gymnasium and cafeteria. Plus, they will add brand new classrooms upstairs and an elevator.
We’re told they are ahead of deadline for this three year project. They plan to have an open house for the community on January 7th.
