Decatur comes back to win thriller over QA to open their season

BERLIN, Del- The Stephen Decatur boys basketball team defeated Queen Anne’s 59-56 to open their season. Seahawks move to 1-0 on the season and the loss drops the Lions to 0-1.

After a coaching carousel this offseason, Queen Anne’s settled on Jeff Hollis as their head coach for the 2018 season. The Lions started fast out the gate, leading by three to end the first quarter and then 29-26 at the half. Senior Nick Dunkerly lead his team with 12 points including three 3’s.

To start the second half, QA would continue their dominance, going out to a 10 point lead with just under five minutes to play. For the Seahawks, in crunch time they got the fire they needed from junior star Churchill Bounds.

Back and forth the next minute and a half resulted in a 59-56 lead for the Seahawks, the game coming down to a QA inbounds pass for the game. An unsuccessful three point attempt by the Lions gives Stephen Decatur the week one win.
