Code Purple Sussex Co. needs overnight volunteers
SUSSEX CO., Del. – Code Purple Sussex County is in urgent need of overnight volunteers in multiple shelters across Sussex County.
We’re told that anyone interested in helping will be trained on the job, and will have the option to stay their first night with a seasoned volunteer if needed.
The following shelters are in need:
- Milford Nazarene: in need of female overnight volunteers for every other Friday night, some Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursday.
- Milford Avenue: in need of male volunteers for some Fridays and Mondays, as well as any other blank spot on the Milford Calendar, which can be found here.
- Seaford St. Luke’s: in need of male overnight volunteers on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
- Bridgeville – Gateway Fellowship: needs female overnight volunteers on Fridays, every other Monday, some Wednesdays and some Thursdays. Sign up on the Seaford Calendar.
- Bethany – Stone House: needs lots of overnight female volunteers; please email codepurplesussexcounty@gmail.com with what days you have available so you can be added to the schedule.
- Laurel Nazarene: will open on January 1st and needs 2 male overnight volunteers for Wednesday night; please email codepurplesussexcounty@gmail.com if you are interested.
- Georgetown Presbyterian: operates as a partnership and is open regardless of volunteers, but is looking to get the community more involved. Sign up on the Georgetown Calendar.
- Delmar: is not struggling like other shelters but they are always welcoming extra help; sign up on the Delmar Calendar.
All interested volunteers should fill out a Volunteer Registration Form, which can be found here, in addition to sign up instructions for individual shelters. Officials from Code Purple say that even if you can only do a couple days a month, you should sign up for those days online.
