Chesapeake Shipbuilding hiring to meet heightened demand

SALISBURY, Md. – In Salisbury, a local manufacturer is seeing their sales sky rocket as they work to fill a major demand for their products.

Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury has been hard at work day in and day out building tug boats and even cruise ships. This year alone they have already designed, built, and delivered five ships and they don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

That’s why they say they’re hiring now.

“So as our contracts continue to grow our work force continues to grow. We’ve increased our workforce by 50 percent in the last two years and as we continue to grow, we’re going to continue to need metal fabricators, marine electricians, industrial painters, etc.,” explains Steven McGee, President of Chesapeake Shipbuilding.

McGee says they have more orders for cruise ships already placed for the next three years.
