UPDATE: Police investigating robbery at Bank of Delmarva
SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury Police have arrested a Salisbury man in connection to a bank robbery that happened Friday afternoon.
At around 2 PM, officers responded to the Bank of Delmarva located at 1206 Nanticoke Road for a reported armed robbery. Bank employees reported to police that a male suspect entered the bank and approached a teller, reportedly making a distinct motion that led the employee to believe he had a weapon, although no weapon was ever displayed.
The suspect was then given an unknown amount of cash before fleeing the bank and getting into a taxi cab that was waiting for him.
Responding officers were able to locate the vehicle he fled in traveling northbound on Route 13 near Olive Street. A traffic stop was initiated, and 24-year-old Erroll Ralph Jenkins of Salisbury was taken into custody without incident. Police found additional evidence during a search of the vehicle.
Police say the taxi cab driver was not part of the incident and was simply there to pick up a paying fare with no knowledge of Jenkins’ intent.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Jenkins faces charges of armed robbery, robbery, theft, assault 1st degree, and assault 2nd degree. He is currently being held at the Wicomico County Detention Center.
The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information to contact the Salisbury Police Department at 833-SBY-CITY.
