Beef recall expanded due to concerns of salmonella

WASHINGTON, D.C. – More than 12 million pounds of raw beef products have been recalled due to concerns of salmonella contamination.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the recall on Tuesday, which they say is an expansion of a ground beef recall that was announced on October 4th of this year.

This recall includes an additional 5 million pounds of raw beef products from JBS Tolleson, Inc., that were packaged on various dates, ranging from July 26th, 2018 through September 7th, 2018. The products subject to recall contain the establishment number “EST. 267” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

According to the FSIS, nearly 250 people have been affected by the contaminated beef.

Consumers are urged to check their freezers and if they have any of these products, they should not eat them and should either throw them out or return them to the place of purchase.

A list of products included in the recall can be found here, along with a list of product labels here.
