Wor-Wic receives funding to help youth prepare for college

SALISBURY, Md. – On Wednesday, Wor-Wic Community College was awarded more than $28,000 to help low-income youth prepare for college. School officials say the money will benefit low-income students by offering programs in career exploration, educational planning, and job skills. They add that these funds will create programs that will help expose local students to in-school workshops that focus on communication, collaboration, teamwork, job exploration, and more.
And officials say it’s extremely important that these tools are available for the youth.

“It’s just been a great partnership. We continue to work with the county schools on a daily basis but we’re excited really again to be giving students who maybe have not thought that that was in their realm of possibilities. And really mentor them to show them what it’s all about, “said director of career services for Wor-Wic Community College Lori Smoot.

Officials add that they’ll have these programs available for juniors in high school to attend by spring of next year.
