Thanksgiving approaches, grocery stores see business boom
CLARKSVILLE, Del. – At Hocker’s grocery store we told business is booming as customers stock up on their favorite thanksgiving fixings.
Loading up on cranberry sauce, yams, gravy, and everything else in between, shoppers across the country are getting ready for thanksgiving Thursday.
At Hocker’s Supermarket workers are plugging away 24/7 stocking, scanning, and more. Doing whatever is needed during the busiest time of year.
Ron Holloway, the store manager said, “It’s increased our sales because every year at thanksgiving you have a little bump that helps out.”
Locals aren’t the only ones spending their hard earned dollars.
Holloway says that they get beach business and are helped by people who visit Sussex County during the holiday.
“You have people coming down to spend Thankgiving here so that’s another increase.”
The men and women who rely on a paycheck here say they’re happy to see shoppers helping locally-owned stores like theirs, and it’s their holiday wish that everyone would support mom and pop stores during the Christmas season.
Holloway said, “It’s just nice to help your local businesses out.”
In turn, those businesses will be sure to help support local churches and local charities.
