Shoppers line up for ALDI’s official grand opening

SALISBURY, Md. – Residents all across Delmarva are grabbing their grocery lists and heading to Salisbury to do their shopping at the newest Aldi store located right on route 13. Shoppers say they’re thrilled that this new and affordable store has made its way to the eastern shore, and they’re hoping it’s here to stay.

With a cut of a ribbon, the floodgates were open as eager shoppers made their way inside the brand new Aldi Grocery store to celebrate it’s grand opening.

“I think it’s very exciting, and I don’t have to tell you that, all you have to do is go out and look at the parking lot, that will speak for itself ,” said resident Robert Gale.

Residents say what sets this grocery store apart from all the rest is its quality, yet affordable food that allows shoppers to buy healthier items without breaking the bank.

“We all like to have something healthy for our families and ourselves, and so far from what I’ve been seeing there are a lot of products, organic products and natural products that are good for everyone,” said another resident Krisnra Crippen.

“I love Acme too, but if you are on a limited income, you’ve got to search for the bargains,” said Ruth Morris.

Shoppers add that the only other Aldi location was more than 50 miles away in Delaware. And that’s why they begged the popular grocery store to make their way closer to home.

“Every time we’d go to Aldi in Camden, we’d say oh are you ever going to come to Salisbury, and of course the clerks didn’t know that but we’d say you’ve got to come to Salisbury, you’ve got to come to Salisbury,” said Morris.

And now that they’ve got their wish, residents have their fingers crossed in hopes that this store will be here for the long run.

“I just hope Salisbury does, the people the residents, I hope they honor it, continue to come even after the sales, because we just need it so bad,” said Morris.

If you haven’t made your way to Aldi just yet you still have some time. The store is currently open and will be open daily for customers from 8 AM until 9 PM.
