SHA set to repair Nanticoke Road starting next week
SALISBURY, Md. – Back in October, a Wicomico County road suffered a major washout. For the past month, the community has been waiting to see when Nanticoke Road will be fixed, while state officials were trying to figure out how to make sure this never happens again.
And finally, the plans are in place to repair Nanticoke Road and construction will begin as soon as next week.
“We’re putting in the emergency spill way so basically when the water level rises up and too much water goes into the first spill way, we’re going to have that secondary structure in order to capture that flow so the water will not rise above it and over the top of the road again,” explains Brett Deane, a SHA District Engineer.
We’re told this type of repair will take a considerable amount of time to complete, so they are asking residents to be patient for the next several months while SHA makes the necessary fixes to the road.
In the meantime, SHA is encouraging motorists to continue using the detour.
