UPDATE: Salisbury Police investigate fatal accident near South Rt. 13 Wawa


SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury Police Department is continuing to investigate an accident that left one dead and sent another to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the incident occurred at approximately 2:30 PM Wednesday, at the intersection of S. Salisbury Boulevard and Newton Street.

Further investigation revealed that a Pontiac minivan that was traveling northbound on S. Salisbury Boulevard reportedly swerved into oncoming southbound traffic, hitting a Jeep that was traveling southbound head-on.

The driver of the Pontiac, 68-year-old Tyeace Virginia Waters, was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Jeep, a 58-year-old male from Salisbury, is being treated at Peninsula Regional Medical Center for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is still ongoing, and police are working to determine why Waters’ vehicle swerved into oncoming traffic. Anyone who was traveling in the area yesterday afternoon around 2:30 PM that may have witnessed this crash is asked to contact the Salisbury Police Department at 833-SBY-CITY.
