Salisbury’s Riverwalk Amphitheater renamed in honor of Pohanka
SALISBURY, Md. – On Monday, Salisbury mayor Jake Day announced that the Riverwalk Amphitheater in downtown Salisbury has been renamed in honor of the Pohanka Automotive Group of Salisbury.
We’re told that the company has donated $75,000 to complete the second phase of construction on the performance venue, with an additional $25,000 donated to establish the new Salisbury Ice Rink.
Last year, an ice skating rink was added to the City Park as part of the Winter Wonderland display, which was provided by Pohanka of Salisbury as part of their Pohanka Pays It Forward Program.
“We saw how much joy it brought to all of the families who came out to experience the ice rink. Ice skating in December is just one of those time honored traditions, and that’s why we thought it should be annual one,” said Vice President and Dealer Operator of Pohanka of Salisbury Sandy Fitzgerald-Angello.
In their determination to keep the tradition going, the Pay It Forward program purchased and donated an 1,800 square foot ice rink to the City of Salisbury.
The rink, now located at the Riverwalk Amphitheater, will be open to the public every weekend in December until Christmas.
According to Mayor Jake Day, the funds contributed by Pohanka will help build the canopy over the stage area, as well as audio and power enhancements.
