Salisbury man arrested on active warrant, new drug charges

SALISBURY, Md. – A Salisbury man is facing charges after he was found in possession of crack cocaine last weekend.

Shortly before 8 AM on November 10th, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office noticed a subject in the 900 block of West Road. The subject, identified as 56-year-old Howard Purnell, had an active warrant out for violation of probation in a CDS possession case.

When the deputy approached Purnell to take him into custody, Purnell reportedly tried to discard a plastic baggie, which was later recovered and contained what appeared to be crack cocaine.

Purnell was arrested and processed on the warrant and the possession of CDS charge. He is currently being held without bond.
