Salisbury drops the ECAC bowl to Alfred in a close one

SALISBURY, Md- The Salisbury Seagulls fell to Alfred University 14-7 in the 2018 ECAC bowl.

Alfred started out hot, QB Ben Burk hit a wide open E.J. Staniszewski to open up the scoring with 8 minutes left in the first quarter. The Seagulls would tie the game up in the second quarter. After a missed Alfred field goal, Gulls Quarterback Frank Pipich found a wide open Matt Scott for the game tying score. The halftime score tied 7-7 and would be carried through the third into the fourth.

On the first possession of the quarter, Saxons Running Back Nasir Smith would take it 61 yards to the house for his 16th of the season to regain the lead for Alfred with just over 13 minutes to play in the game. The two teams would trade punts on the next couple of possessions but the Gulls would manage to get the ball back with just enough time for a game tying touchdown.

On a 4th and 4 with under 3 minutes to play, Salisbury would call a pass play. Bringing the blitz, Alfred brought down QB Jason Patterson behind the line forcing a turnover on downs. Running out the clock from there, Alfred would go on to win the ECAC bowl over SU.
