Prince Street Elementary rallies together as a community after student passes away

SALISBURY, Md. – Prince Street Elementary in Salisbury is honoring the life of one of their students after he passed away on Thanksgiving Day in a car accident.

The school made a memorial for second grader Kaleb Chatmon at his desk. Each second grade class is also writing personalized messages for his mother.

Their principal, Jason Miller says, Kaleb’s mom is in a state of shock, but she is beyond thankful for all the thoughts and prayers. “When we say we are family, we truly are a family and we lost a family member who was certainly a gem to us and anytime we lose someone it certainly is tragic but when you lose a student it’s the ultimate tragedy, we certainly want to honor Kaleb in everything we do and allow his legacy to live on,” Miller says.

If you’d like to make any donations in memory of Kaleb, school officials say you are welcome to bring them to Prince Street Elementary.
