Police offer shopping safety tips ahead of Black Friday and Cyber Monday
DELAWARE – It’s the most wonderful time of year, for shoppers looking for great deals that is.
With Black Friday and Cyber Monday right around the corner, many are getting ready to pull out their wallets and spend some serious money but before you do, it’s important to know how to protect yourself from theft this holiday season.
For Black Friday, police say you should stay vigilant in stores and know where your purse and credit card are at all times.
They also recommend using cash when you can instead of credit to prevent from your card number from being stolen.
As for Cyber Monday, police say be wary of the sites you are placing orders with and be ready to pick up your package when it arrives at your house so that it won’t get stolen.
Eric Chambers, the Public Information Officer for Seaford Police said, “If you know when a package is coming, you know when your mail is typically being delivered, just be home to receive the package so its not left laying on your front door step or your front porch…In the online shopping always shop with a secured website if you think you’ve been compromised always check your bank accounts to make sure your balance is correct.”
We’re told on Black Friday, there will be an increased police presence at stores across the Eastern Shore to ensure the safety of shoppers.
