Police investigating possible murder-suicide in Delaware
DOVER, Del. – Last seen on the morning of November 8th, police say Ahyanna Baker-Griffin left her home on S. Queen Street in Dover with boyfriend, Dishiem Johnson.
Not long after, the 20 year-old Ahyanna missed a family function and failed to return calls. Fearing for the worst, the family called police.
Dover Police Department Master Corporal Mark Hoffman said, “She had not been in contact for at least two or three days.”
The Dover Police Department sent out a missing persons report, but the search wouldn’t last long.
Baker-Griffin and Johnson’s lifeless bodies riddled with gunshot wounds were found at an apartment complex along South West Street in Camden.
For now, investigators say this case does appear to be a murder-suicide.
Cpl. Hoffman said, “To find them in the condition that we did, deceased, is unfortunate. It’s tragic and saddens us all here at the department.”
A young mother and aspiring teacher, Ayhanna leaves behind a one year-old son and was a student at Wesley College.
Dover police have a final message for the public in the wake of Ayanna’s death.
“If there’s any lesson to be learned from this it’s to take domestic violence seriously.”
Police are asking anyone who has seen or heard anything to please come forward with any information critical to the investigation.
Wesley College released a statement that said, “The Wesley College family is distraught by the murder of student Ahyanna Baker-Griffin. We are working as a community to come together and share our grief over this tragic loss of life. Our deepest sympathy is extended to Ahyanna’s family and friends.”
