Pedestrian struck on roadway, charged with intoxication, not carrying flashlight
ELLENDALE, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating an Ellendale crash involving a pedestrian Friday night that left a man with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the pedestrian, a 33-year old Lincoln man, was hit on northbound Route 113 in the area of Staytonville Road just after 9 PM Friday.
The man was on the white dotted line in the road when the driver of a Jeep Patriot honked his horn to warn him, but the man took a step into the path of the Jeep, and was hit by the driver side mirror.
The pedestrian sustained multiple non-life threatening injuries, and was transported to Christiana Hospital by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit. The investigation determined that he was wearing dark clothing and not wearing any reflective clothing or carrying a flashlight. He was cited for Failure to Carry a Light and Drunk on Highway.
The Delaware State Police is continuing their investigation into this incident.
