Peace scores five TD’s as Dover cruises past CR
DOVER, Del- The Dover Senators defeated Caesar Rodney 41-2 in the final week of the regular season. The win boosts Dover to 9-1 on the year while the loss drops the Riders to 5-5 to end their season.
It didn’t start out the way the Senators expected it to. Their first possession starting inside their own 10, the snap flies past QB Jordan Magee into the back of the endzone for the early safety. CR up two, unable to move the ball after the free kick so they punt the ball to Dover giving them the ball at the 20. On his first touch of the game, Dover start Running Back Javon Peace took it 80 yards untouched to the house. After a failed two point conversion Dover would take the 6-2 lead.
Next Senators possession and just like the last possession, Peace takes it to the house a second time. This time from 24 yards out, two point conversion good so Dover up 14-2 early in the second. As time wined down in the first half, Dover would get the ball back with just under 2 minutes to play. Taking it down inside the ten, the Senators would find themselves with a 4thand goal from the 6 inch line and could not punch it in as time expired making the halftime score 14-2.
If you aren’t familiar with Dover Running Back Javon Peace, you need to write his name down. To open up the second half on his first touch, Peace torched the Riders defense for a 71 yard touchdown run, his third of the game, he had FIVE on the day.
Add on a 22 yard touchdown pass from backup QB Michael Carrington to Christopher Dabney and you have a 41-2 final in Dover. The Senators solidify their spot in the DIAA D1 playoffs with the win.
