Open enrollment starts for Delaware’s Healthcare Marketplace
DOVER, Del. – Enrollment for Healthcare in Delaware is now open and healthcare officials say the sooner you act, the better.
“We highly encourage anyone to start now,” Maggie Norris Bent who works with a health organization said.
Starting November 1st and ending December 15th, qualifying Delawareans can start exploring coverage options.
Norris-Bent says you should start shopping now before the deadline hits.
“Go on to healthcare.gov, look at their plans, look at the options. Delaware has a lot of new options for folks this year, at least start to shop.”
Maggie says having healthcare is super important and makes it easier to get specialized care.
Norris-Bent said, “When you have health insurance you have greater access to care. You have greater access to primary care, specialty care, like those mammograms you need to get regularly.”
Officials tell 47 ABC applying for care is easy. You can either go online, call, or even walk in to your community health center to ask about enrollment resources, and they’re always happy to help.
Not sure if you qualify? she says you have to be uninsured, and must not have affordable insurance offered through your workplace.
There is also an income requirement which depends on a case by case basis. If you meet all those you can start your search.
“What has really changed at least in Delaware is that there are options than there were before,” she said.
