One person in critical condition after car crashes with cement trunk in Rehoboth Beach
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a serious crash that happened early Friday morning.
According to officials, the accident involving a cement truck and a car happened at the intersection of Route 1 and Route 24, just south of John J. Williams highway.
They say the driver of the car, a 48-year-old woman from Lewes, was in a left turn lane before she crossed a concrete median for an unknown reason and hit a cement truck. Officials say the woman was trapped and had to be removed by emergency crews. She was later taken to Christiana Hospital, where she was listed in serious but stable condition on Friday.
Witnesses tell 47 ABC that traffic was backed up for miles. The driver of the truck, a 34-year-old man from Dover, was treated and released with non life threatening injuries. The crash is still under investigation.
