One dead following early morning crash in Easton
EASTON, Md. – Easton Police are currently investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of one person early Wednesday morning.
Shortly after 3 AM, emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of Ocean Gateway and Route 322 north for a reported vehicle crash. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country minivan was traveling east along Ocean Gateway when it reportedly crashed into a 2018 Weststar Truck (tractor and trailer).
Witnesses reported that they saw the Chrysler run the red light and hit the Weststar as it was crossing over Ocean Gateway.
The driver of the Weststar truck, 64-year-old David Logan White, of Oxford, suffered injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Chrysler, 23-year-old William Sterling Boyd, and the front seat passenger, 22-year-old Cameron Randolph Watkins, both of Baltimore, were transported to the Trauma Center in Baltimore via Maryland State Police helicopter. The third occupant of the van was pronounced dead at the scene.
At this time, police cannot rule out alcohol and/or controlled dangerous substance as being a contributing factor in this crash.
