Millsboro grandmother to raise twins after mother is killed: How you can help

MILLSBORO, Del. – For Caroline Thompson, this is her new reality. Taking care of her six month old twin grand kids full time after their mother, and her daughter-in-law 32-year-old Kristin Fell was tragically killed in a car accident in Millsboro earlier this month.

“She was a very loving mother. She was kind she would do anything for anybody,” said Thompson.

Now, Thompson is left picking up the pieces trying to adjust to a new life that she never saw coming.

“I’ve got to get a routine down, be able to feed them, clothe them, bathe them, and it’s hard,” said Thomson.

But she says she’s had her whole family and the community behind her. Donating diapers, clothes, formula and more. A GoFundMe has as also been set up for the family to help contribute to their needs.

“You see things on TV where others have lost and people come together I never imagined that it would happen to me and that people would come together like they have,” said Thompson.

Thompson adds that although it will be challenging, she’ll do whatever it takes to make sure her grand kids have the best future possible.

“When it comes to my grandchildren I’m thinking of what’s best for them.”

And when asked how she makes it through each and every day: “My mom told me the other day before she left here the other night. I’m stronger than I think I am, I am a strong person, and god, god will give me all the strength that I need to carry on,” said Thompson.

The family  says the car Kristin was driving the day she died was actually Thompson’s car which is now totaled. They say she’s in need of some sort of vehicle to be able to take the twin boy, who has issues with his breathing, to his doctors appointments in Wilmington to be able to continue his breathing treatments.
