Milford man arrested on assault and other charges following altercation

MILFORD, Del. – A Milford man is facing assault charges after police say he assaulted a victim during a verbal altercation during the early morning hours of November 4th.

Police say they were called to respond to a reported physical altercation shortly before 3:30 AM, in the 300 block of SE Second Street. The victim told police that the suspect, identified as 29-year-old William Baltazar Chavez, allegedly broke a glass beer bottle over the victim’s head during a verbal altercation.

The victim was injured and was taken to an area hospital for medical treatment. Two children were also reportedly present during the altercation and witnessed the assault.

Baltazar Chavez was arrested and charged with one count of second degree assault, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and possession of a ficticious ID card. He was presented and committed to the Department of Corrections in default of $3,200 secured bail. He was also issued a no contact order with the victim.
