MidShore Meals Til Monday seek donations to continue feeding children in Dorchester Co.

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – A newer program in Dorchester County is working to end childhood hunger one meal at a time. But in order to feed more students, they need your help.

MidShore Meals Til Monday started their backpack program in 2017. From there, they’ve grown from 25 students to over 300.

In order to continue growing though, they need more food donations.

Leslie Bishop, the Director of MidShore Meals, says 20 percent of Dorchester County students are food insecure and they want to expand to more schools.

“The levels of children who are hungry are much higher here. Dorchester County statistically has the third highest level of child insecurity in Maryland,” Bishop tells us.

We’re told it costs about $5 per week per child, so any monetary donations are helpful. Food donations are necessary, as are volunteers.
