Locals turn out for DARTS ‘Stuff the Bus’ food drive

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – The rain on Monday definitely didn’t stop residents in Sussex County from giving back. DART First State started their 21st annual week-long ‘Stuff the Bus’ Thanksgiving food drive at the ACME in Rehoboth Beach Monday.

People stopping by the bus with grocery bags filled with nonperishable food, bags that were filling up the bus fast. In the first couple hours of starting the event, dozens of boxes were already packed and sealed.

It’s an event that’s all about giving back to the local community and helping those in need.

“Even just one can does make a difference. You may not think so but they all add up in the long run and you know you can’t tell if someone is in need of food assistance. There’s no sign blinking over you saying ‘oh I’m hungry’ so you never know who you may know who’s in need of food assistance,” explains Patty Boid, Marketing Specialist for DART First State.

All the food collected will be donated to the Food Bank of Delaware. DART will be out Tuesday at the Milford Walmart and Dover Safeway from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.
