Local teachers recognize American Education Week, invite parents into classrooms

POCOMOKE CITY, Md. – Teachers across the country invited parents into classrooms this week for American Education week.

At Pocomoke Elementary, teachers welcomed parents to show them where the “magic” happens.

They tell us this week is especially important because it connects teachers to parents, which is a relationship that allows their child to grow, especially at early learning stages of life.

And by keeping parents in the loop with curriculum, Pocomoke teachers say it can make for happy and successful students.

Thursday parents and teachers shared with us why this week makes a difference.

Arionne Land, a parent said, “We need to know what they’re learning so we can try to help at home as well.”

Niya Browne, a teacher said, “We are so open. We have our classrooms open everyday. We always want parents to come in whether its American Education week, or any other day, we want them to come see the magic that happens daily”

Worcester County Public Schools always encourage you to come visit your child’s classroom to see what they’re learning on a day to day basis.
