Local fourth grader collecting coats for those in need

SELBYVILLE, Del. – A local fourth grader named Maggie is doing what she can to help out those in need this holiday season.

Maggie is collecting winter coats at several locations including: the Frankford Town Hall, Milton Police Department, Selbyville Middle School, and the Southern Delaware School of the Arts.

Maggie tells 47ABC she was inspired by her aunt to launch this effort. She says last year, her aunt, who works in Baltimore at a hospital, was asking family for coats. Maggie decided it would be a good idea to do this in our area as well.

Maggie started the coat drive last year, and she tells us she was able to collect 127 coats.

This year, she’s hoping to surpass that number.
