Local businesses buy back Halloween candy to support troops

BERLIN, Md. -If you’re looking for a way to get rid of some of that Halloween candy temptation you’re in luck. Local organizations are willing to buy back some of your candy, and it’s all for a good cause. On Thursday Tilghman Orthodontics partnered with Operation We Care to offer $2 per pound for any new and unopened Halloween candy. They say they’ll accept up to five pounds of candy per child.  They add that the money raised from the buyback event will be included in care packages for those serving in the military.

“It doesn’t have to be a patient anybody can come in bring Halloween candy and then we’ll weigh it here at the office. We love and support our active military,it’s nice that they get those little care packages from us and the candy is just a nice way to kind of fill those boxes every year for them, they enjoy it too,” said treatment coordinator for Tilghman Orthodontics Marisol Hitchens.

Hitchens adds that if you weren’t able to take your candy back on Thursday you have another chance on Friday. Starting at 8:30 AM you can drop off your candy at the other Tilghman Orthodontics location in Salisbury.
