Large amount of Heroin seized during traffic stop in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Del. – A Virginia man is facing multiple drug charges following a traffic stop in Georgetown.

At around 10:30 AM Sunday, Georgetown Police stopped a vehicle traveling southbound on South DuPont Boulevard in the area of Shortly Road, for a traffic violation.

When officers made contact with the driver, 26-year-old Tyrice Thomas, they smelled marijuana coming from within the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted as a result, leading to the discovery of 6 grams of marijuana, and 150 bundles of heroin, each bundle containing 10 individual bags.

Thomas was arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 5 quantity, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned and released on $40,200 unsecured bail.
